Teaching Philosophy
I seek to support students in developing a deep enjoyment of playing and listening to classical piano. Piano has brought me a creative outlet to explore my emotions and reflect. I look for students who are committed to learning through consistent, intentional practice that is sustainable in the long term. I aim to develop my students into well-rounded pianists who have an appreciation for different styles and periods of classical music. My teaching is focused on proper technique to create desired tone and sound. It is far more important to me for my students to play musically than technically advanced.
I am interested in teaching primarily adults of all levels from beginner to advanced students. I am also open to accepting younger students. I require students have a well maintained acoustic piano (upright or grand) at home. I am an active member of the Oregon Music Teacher’s Association.
My piano studio is Northwest of Mt. Tabor in NE Portland.
