About Me

Born and raised in Portland, OR, my passion for piano started at age 5 when I would listen to my mother play Rachmaninoff on our old upright. Noticing an interest in piano, my parents enrolled me in lessons with Harry Viar in 2000 at age 7. I continued learning from him for two decades until his recent passing.

In my youth, I played in recitals, competitions, and masterclasses in Oregon for the Oregon Music Teachers Association and Portland Piano International. I have participated in masterclasses with Stephen Hough, Paul Roberts, Susan Chan, Catherine Kautsky, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, and Mei-Ting Sun. In 2010, I won the Oregon State-wide High School Piano Competition, playing the first movement of Rachmaninoff’s second piano sonata.

Seeking a career in piano performance, I enrolled at Oberlin Conservatory, where I studied with Alvin Chow for two years. Following a finger injury, I shifted my focus away from performance piano and began exploring my non-music related interests. During the covid pandemic, I dove deep back into playing and have since reconnected with my passion for piano through a different lens, particularly through a resurgence in lessons with my lifelong teacher and mentor. I have long desired to teach and share my love of piano and music with others and look forward to building lasting relationships with my students.

In addition to teaching, I currently perform in-house concerts, the dates of which are listed on the “Performance” page.

My piano studio is in SE Portland in the Richmond area
